Atlassian are deprecating the Epic and Parent Link fields and this may cause some of your scripts to stop working.
What is happening?
As part of Atlassian's continued platform enhancements, Atlassian have announced the planned deprecation of the Epic and Parent Link fields in Atlassian APIs from some endpoint responses and webhook events. This change affects how these fields are referenced in REST APIs.
Parent Link will be removed on 13 June 2025.
Epic Link will be removed on 13 September 2025.
Please note that these fields have already been removed from webhooks and change history.
What should I do?
  1. Check if your custom scripts and Marketplace apps are affected. We’ve prepared a report highlighting the scripts that require attention. You can find this report within your ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud instance by opening the menu on the left-hand side and scrolling down to Deprecation Report.
  2. Update any affected scripts as soon as possible. Replace the deprecated fields with the parent field using our how-to guide.
  3. Use the new endpoints when you’re writing new scripts.
To ensure your Jira environment continues to run seamlessly, we recommend updating any affected scripts before the planned deprecation date.
