Enhanced Search is moving to Atlassian's native Forge platform for improved security and usability. You can begin reviewing your existing saved filters for Forge compatibility ahead of the new app version launch.
Enhanced Search is beginning the move to Forge to take advantage of the improved security and usability offered by Atlassian's native platform. There are two main changes you need to know about: compatible Enhanced Search filters will soon be available within the native Jira search bar, and new filters will start to use Forge custom JQL functions.
What is happening?
Enhanced Search is moving to the Forge platform for two main reasons:
- Forge is Atlassian's new gold standard for building secure, enterprise-ready apps.
- Moving to Forge allows Enhanced Search functionality to be integrated into native Jira search.
As Forge's search syntax differs from the current (Connect) syntax for certain queries, you may notice that updates are recommended for some of your existing saved filters.
From Wednesday 11 March, any of your filters that are not yet Forge-ready will be flagged with a message in the Enhanced Search app. You can review your filters and begin updating them by following the guidance provided in the documentation here.
From late Q2, the next update will begin rolling out across instances to integrate Enhanced Search functionality with native Jira search. At this point, you will see the following:
- Filters that have been successfully updated, and any that are already Forge-compatible, will automatically move out of the Enhanced Search app and into the Jira filters page. You can now use these filters as-is from the native search bar.
- Filters that are not yet Forge-compatible will stay in the Enhanced Search app interface. You'll still be able to find and use those filters inside the Enhanced Search app, but they won't be available in native search unless you update and transfer them manually.
- You can no longer create new filters within the Enhanced Search app, but you can create and save filters using Forge syntax from the native search bar.
We recommend that you begin reviewing and updating your filters right away so that you can enjoy a smoother transition to native search when the update arrives.
What should I do?
- Log in to the Enhanced Search app to review your existing filters.
- For any filters that are flagged as incompatible, review the documentation to understand how to make updates.
- Begin updating your filters if you wish to prepare them ahead of the native search rollout.
